While there has been plenty of speculation for years that a YouTube TV "crackdown is just around the corner," in fact, I've never seen any evidence that that is the case. And if you're away for more than 90 days, they will block ALL programming from you until you come home and log into your home DMA (and the DMA is all that's required to unblock you you do NOT have to be on the same IP as the home location, just in the same DMA). If you stay away from home for more than thirty days, they used to block MLB programming (I don't know if they still do that). But, whether inside or outside the account's DMA, you're still good to go if you're on one of the three outside streams. Yes, people on outside streams will either get the same local stations as the account holder will get at his home address, if they're in the same Designated Market Area or DMA, or they will get different local stations if they're outside the account's DMA. And those outside streams can be anywhere in the United States, and the IP doesn't matter at all. YouTube TV allows up to three outside streams. They seem to be the real deal, not just phone script jockeys. If you are having problems, I'd say reach out to u/youtube_tv_guy or to u/TeamYouTube. And, indeed, I've read no complaints about this feature in this subreddit since that date,.
Theoretically, the fix should have finished rolling out on March 3rd. He said he would now get the fix rolled out to the entire subscriber base over the following two weeks, if there were no further hitches. He thanked us for allowing him to use us as guinea pigs. In our case, our 4K Plus expanded streaming didn't work right when we first fired it up in November. On the other hand, if you're still having problems, then I'd say something's come unstuck.
Hopefully, with your umbrella now re-secured, the problem will go away. Having done all of the above, and confirmed, in that way, that your home umbrella is working properly, now take the next step, and fire up your three off-site streams, one at a time. If you inadvertently do the latter, those phone streams will be scored as "outside" streams rather than being put under the "home" unlimited umbrella. If you use your phones among your home streams, make sure your phones are also connected to your home's WiFi and NOT to your regular mobile provider. And you have to run at least four streams to make sure your home streams are not being erroneously labeled as "outside" streams. All home streams must be on the same Internet connection. Then start firing up a whole bunch of streams at your home location. To make sure, turn off all off-site streams. Secondly, somehow or other, you might have lost the unlimited umbrella at your primary house. If two or more of them are using the SAME Internet connection, then your unlimited umbrella might have moved away from your primary house and might have relocated itself at one of these off-site locations.
They even helped me set up my Family Group! (It was only two off-site users at that time the 4K Plus addon didn't exist yet.)
That's as per YouTube TV phone support, when I asked them this very question two years ago. First of all, as long as the three off-site users live at the primary house at least part of the year, it's perfectly fine.
